I think all those goons that wrote that letter wasting their time trying to exert their power, because their cable companies won't give them NFL network for free, should be voted the hell out of office. Specter too total bull shit. Comcast is scamming their customers and everyone knows it. The fact that congress is trying to go after the NFL pisses me off. Wonder how much Comcast and other cable companies that have been blocking the NFL network have contributed to the men that signed that letter.

Michelle Bachman : Congress Needs To Be Investigated For Patriotism

Michelle Bachman a state representative from Minnesota, who last month on the House floor blamed the current economic crisis on minorities, now has a new line.

Speaking on behalf of the McCain Campaign Friday to Chris Matthews, she said Congress needed to be investigated for non patriotic members. In a nutshell Republicans and Pro-American and Democrats are not. If these statements sound scary to you, that's because they are.

Republicans in total desperation are now settling on class warfare and calling fellow Americans Un-American to try and stop their dwindling campaign chances. They are even starting to call Obama and Democrats Socialists. They are going back to the days of McCarthyism. Funny that it starts with another 'Mc' name. This a dangerous campaign tactic designed to split Americans apart. This is what the Republicans think they need to do to win.

Well I say us voters tell the Republicans exactly what we think of their campaign tactics and divisive accusations and statements. Vote them out!!

San Diego, that starts with voting out Duncan Hunter. All his friends are now in jail or under investigation. Its time his representation of San Diego ends.

Pork Had To Be Added To Rescue Bill To Get Republican Support

For a party constantly running on being against pork in bills, it is kind of funny that the Senate had to add pork to the rescue bill or bailout bill to get Republican support. That is right pork had to be added to the bill to satisfy Senate Republicans and woo House Republicans.

I know after the last eight years of the Republican pork fest, it is really funny to hear them say how against pork they are. Hypocrites...

House Republican Bailout Plan : Less Regulation

That's right, the Republicans big plan centers on easing tax laws for businesses and less regulation for businesses. The issue that was caused by deregulation, house Republicans are now trying to fix with more deregulation. That is all they know, that is their fix for everything. Well we saw what more deregulation does to our economy. You would think they would get it or learn from their mistakes.

I think this bailout stinks period, but for Republicans to offer up a plan of deregulation as a solution to a problem that was caused by deregulation. Well it just really blows my mind. How out of touch with the American people can they be. Their solutions show it all. Very out of touch.

Vote Them All Out In November

This November whether it is for new Democrats, or new Republicans, or even new Independents. The key is 'New' we need to vote them all out and get some new people in. An unarmed Revolution of sorts, I guarantee it would send a clear message to all politicians that we mean business. We have the power and we can make it happen.



In a way these problems are our own, we either voted these people in or didn't vote at all. In that respect I feel we are ultimately responsible for this mess. I also think it will be only us that can fix this mess. How? By doing our homework on the people we vote for, vote out the current and old politicians and vote in new people who will get the job done.



If we voted everyone out it would send shock waves throughout the Country. Politicians would actually have to start working for the people again out of fear of getting voted out if they didn't. We have the power to change everything, but will we use it?

Washington, DC - Push back against the massive $700 billion Wall Street bailout proposal has come hard and fast from members of Congress on both sides of the aisle.

The bailout plan proposed by the Bush administration would give the Treasury Department and Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson - a former Wall Street CEO himself - the power to buy up extremely risky mortgages and other dangerous debt using taxpayer dollars. Because the US government continues to run a deficit, under the plan, the Treasury would have to borrow money to buy this private sector debt - essentially using the taxpayer's credit card to buy home loans that are currently weighing down Wall Street firms.

Members of Congress point to a severe lack of oversight in the proposed Bush administration plan. Section eight of the draft bailout plan states: "Decisions by the Secretary pursuant to the authority of this Act are non-reviewable and committed to agency discretion, and may not be reviewed by any court of law or any administrative agency," essentially stripping Congress of its responsibility to oversee the how these tax dollars could be spent.

Constituents have been blowing up the phone lines on Capitol Hill, calling House of Representatives members, Republicans and Democrats, objecting to the no-strings-attached bailout, and the representatives have responded. Democrats are currently crafting various proposals to help prop up Wall Street firms which have gotten themselves into trouble, but without simply throwing away taxpayer money and without letting CEOs of the affected firms off the hook with fat retirement packages.

Representative Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio), spoke out against a bailout, calling the current proposal "cash for trash," and proposing a distribution of the assets back to the taxpayers.

"Since the bailout will cost each and every American about $2,300, tomorrow I will offer legislation to create a United States Mutual Trust Fund, which will take control of $700 billion in stock assets, at market value and not higher, convert those assets to shares, and distribute $2,300 worth of shares to new individual savings accounts in the name of each and every American," Kucinich said in a statement.

"The Wall Street financial disaster is an opportunity to create a genuine ownership society. If Congress invests $700 billion in the market, then the American people must get something of real value for their investment," Kucinich said.

"The seven and a half year march toward deregulation and unfettered greed in our financial markets has exacted a heavy toll on American taxpayers," Representative Jackie Speier (D-California) said in a statement, adding, "I am not comfortable allowing the same Wall Street insiders and manipulators who got us into this mess to get a free pass. At the very least, the Government Accountability Office should be camped out at Treasury and Congress must be continually updated on the status of the bailout." Speier sits on both the House Financial Services and Oversight and Government Reform Committees. She said she would be watching the situation closely.

Conservative Republican Representative Mike Pence of Indiana was the first to loudly oppose the bailout plan from within the Republican Party.

"The Administration's request amounts to the largest corporate bailout in American history. Congress should act, but should act in a way that protects the integrity of our free market and protects the American taxpayer from more debt and higher taxes," Pence said in a statement Saturday.

Pence makes his argument based on his belief in the Republican mantra of "free market" economics. "To have the freedom to succeed, we must preserve the freedom to fail. Any solution to our present crisis must preserve our essential economic freedom," Pence said.

Democrats have begun to craft a counterproposal, the details of which are not yet set at the time of this publication. Congressman Barney Frank (D-Massachusetts) chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, has been pushing for a plan that includes more oversight and possibly direct financial help to indebted homeowners as well as to Wall Street.

Frank would also like to see compensation limited for Wall Street executives who have created the current situation.

"The notion that while they are getting this help from the federal government we can't tell them not to have golden parachutes, not to pay millions to some of the very people who made bad decisions, as a retirement gift, is unacceptable to us," Frank said to CNN.

CNBC is reporting that Frank and Senate Banking Committee Chairman Chris Dodd (D-Connecticut) are negotiating with the Bush administration. According to Frank, administration officials have agreed to take control of pieces of the companies that they are bailing out - equity stakes in the companies - equal to the amount of taxpayer money invested.

According to CNBC, the administration has agreed to creation of a Congressional oversight board of some kind, but details have not yet been released.

However, according to Frank, limiting pay for business executives is a key sticking point for the administration.

The rush to bail out financial institutions and the willingness to defend executive compensation comes as no surprise to campaign finance experts. Massie Ritsch, communications director for the money in politics watchdog group The Center for Responsive Politics, examines the effect of campaign contributions to politicians in Washington.

"Wall Street is one of the biggest campaign givers in American politics. When you combine donations from the finance, insurance and real estate sectors [all of which stand to gain from the bailout], they become the largest contributor, splitting roughly $311 million evenly between Republicans and Democrats," Ritsch said.

It will not pass without the immunity though. So the Republicans have succeeded in scaring the Democrats into supporting this. A very very sad day for our Country today.

Final FISA Fight: The Votes

It's the final FISA fight of this Congress.

The Senate just rejected Dodd's amendment to strip Title II--the immunity provisions--from the bill, 32-66. Now up is Sen. Specter's amendment that requires the cases be dismissed if the court determines that the warrantless wiretapping programming was legal.

Update I: Specter amendment fails, 37-61. Next up is Bingaman's amendment, the last hope that the Senate regains it's sanity. Given how the votes are going, I'm not holding my breath.

Update II: Bingaman fails 42-56. The Senate is in recess until 2:15, so that the Republicans can go have their weekly lunch and toast the capitulating Dems in celebration. Then they'll come back and finish it off.

Bush Democrats : The Complete List

Just because these people are Democrats does not mean that they deserve their positions. If they can't live up to their Oath, they do not belong in office. Unlike the Republicans who almost always stand by their members regardless of what they have done, Democrats must not follow the Republican standard. If our members are not pulling their weight, they must go, Plain and simple. Our elected officials work for us and regardless of their party affiliation, if they are not voting in our best interests, they must be voted out. No one should be safe because of his or her party affiliation. You work for us or you don't have a seat in Congress. That is how it should be. That is how we can make it. In summary "Don't Vote Democrat, Just Because They Are A Democrat". Research them find out how they voted and how they intend to vote. Not all Democrats are created equal, don't make the mistake of voting the wrong one in.

1. Incumbent Bush Democrats who deserve primary challenges

Below is a list of Democrats who voted wrong on one or more crucial votes. Some are hard-core "Bush Democrats" while others simply join them from time to time.

By publishing this list, we hope to accomplish several goals:

1. Persuade these Democrats to stop voting with Bush so we don't have to challenge them in a primary. Democrats who reverse their bad votes and genuinely embrace progressive positions will be crossed off our list
2. Encourage progressive Democrats to run primaries against those who keep voting with Bush

This list began after 59 Bush Democrats voted against the McGovern Amendment on 5/10/2007 on the first key vote to end the war. Those 59 Bush Democrats voted for an endless occupation of Iraq despite overwhelming opposition from Democrats, Independents, and even many Republicans. The list has been modified since then to take account of other key votes since the original Iraq War vote on 10/10/02.

Key to Column Headings:

"B/R" ranks each district on a "Blue/Red" scale where 1=Strong Blue, 2=Leans Blue, 3=Tossup, 4=Leans Red, 5=Solid Red. In theory there is less "risk" in challenging an incumbent in a Blue district than a Red one, because the seat should stay Democratic regardless of who wins the primary. But each district and each race is unique, so that general theory may or may not apply.

"Incumbent" links to a page for each incumbent where you can discuss progressive Democrats who could challenge them in a primary, and other topics related to local political organizing.

"B/N" identifies Members who join the "Bluedog" (B) or "New Democrat/DLC" (N) caucuses. "Bluedogs" claim to support "fiscal responsibility," but these Bluedogs support a war that has already wasted an incredible $434 billion and driven budget deficits to record levels. "New Democrats/DLC" claim to support "national security" but the Iraq War has severely damaged our armed forces, undermined military recruitment, increased global terrorism, and alienated our allies. Those who play a leadership role with either group earn an asterisk (*).

"BDI" is the "Bush Democrat Index" which ranks all Democrats on their overall voting support for George Bush and the Republicans. It is the reverse of the Progressive Punch Index.

"Votes" identifies key votes where these Members voted wrong:

I touched on this in my last post. It really upsets me and I really think that the Democrats and the Republicans that voted or will vote for this, should in turn be voted out of office. We do not need this kind of representation. They work for us and it is about time we make them aware of this fact that most have forgotten in Washington. Our votes hold the power Our votes and Our willpower can bring an end to this flagrant dismissal of the very core our country is built on. Our Constitution and our laws. This does not have to go on at Our expense anymore. They work for us do not ever forget that.

BREAKING! Kucinich Introduces 35 Articles of Impeachment Against George W. Bush!

It's too bad that this will probably get pushed under the rug. It's sad too because Congress took an Oath to uphold the Constitution. Not an oath to their political career not an oath to their friends or donors but to uphold the Constitution as the law of the land.

Many crimes have been committed and indeed are impeachable, but because of some fear it would be bad for their careers or their next election hopes, they (Congress) let it go on unpunished. It's sad really and in letting these crimes go unpunished they are almost if not as bad as the people that committed the crimes. Why? Because they ignored the law. For their own best interests in both parties cases. Not in the interests of us, our country or our Constitution, but for their own self or individual political parties best interests.

I find this appalling and history will not look back kindly on their inaction, or actions of this administration. If you know it's happening and don't do anything about it, it's just as bad as doing it. Some however are trying to do something about it and I think they deserve our support.

Support Rep. Kucinich's Articles of Impeachment

On Monday, Rep. Dennis Kucinich made history on the floor of the House by reading 35 Articles of Impeachment against President George W. Bush.

At last!!!!!

We've waited years to find one Member of Congress brave enough to stand up for our Constitution, for which generations of Americans have fought and died. We are thrilled and honored that Dennis Kucinich has chosen to be that one genuine patriot.

We congratulate him on his historic leadership, and pledge to do everything in our power to persuade the House to adopt all 35 Articles and put George W. Bush on trial before the Senate of the United States, exactly as the Founding Fathers wanted.

Of course, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (CA-8), Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (MD-5), and Democratic Caucus Chair Rahm Emanuel (IL-5) all remain adamantly opposed to impeachment - despite the overwhelming evidence of High Crimes, including the "Phase II" report by the Senate Intellligence Committee and Scott McClellan's new book.

And when Rep. Robert Wexler (FL-19) called for Judiciary Committee hearings on Kucinich's Articles of Impeachment against Vice President Cheney in January, only 17 Democrats joined them: Neil Abercrombie (HI-1), Tammy Baldwin (WI-2), Michael Capuano (MA-8), Yvette Clarke (NY-11), Lacy Clay (MO-1), Steve Cohen (TN-9), Peter DeFazio (OR-4), Keith Ellison (MN-5), Sam Farr (CA-17), Raúl Grijalva (AZ-7), Luis Gutierrez (IL-4), Barbara Lee (CA-9), Gwen Moore (WI-4), Jim Moran (VA-8), Mike Thompson (CA-1), Ed Towns (NY-10), and Lynn Woolsey (CA-6).

So Kucinich's heroic efforts will be in vain unless we inundate Congress with emails and calls (202-224-3121) showing our full support for Rep. Kucinich's 35 Articles of Impeachment:

Obama "Talks" With Lieberman

It is about time someone showed some leadership and talked to Joe about his Republican ways...

"Returning to the Senate after his securing the Democratic presidential nomination, Obama and Lieberman greeted each on the Senate floor in the Well as they were voting on the budget resolution.

They shook hands. But Obama didn’t let go, leading Lieberman - cordially - by the hand across the room into a corner on the Democratic side, where Democratic sources tell ABC News he delivered some tough words for the junior senator from Connecticut, who had just minutes before hammered Obama's speech before the pro-Israel group AIPAC in a conference call arranged by the McCain campaign."

And what Dick Durbin had to say...

“Its a difficult situation,” Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Illinois, the Senate Democrats' Assistant Majority Leader and a major Obama backer, told reporters Wednesday, according to Roll Call. “Joe is my friend ... but I hope he doesn’t become the lead attack dog. Of course it’s a concern when someone in your Caucus is supporting the other party’s candidate. Let’s not try and sugarcoat it."

Lieberman agreed to caucus with the Democrats, who need his vote in the narrowly-divided Senate, in order to maintain power. But the Nutmeg stater is testing the patience of Democratic leaders by endorsing McCain and agreeing to speak at the Republican National Convention in September. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., told MSNBC they would "watch very closely" how far Lieberman takes his advocacy.

Joe you need to go. Give up your committee chair's and go caucus with your Republican buddies.

We need to start calling our congressmen and telling them NO on amnesty for the Telco company's! They broke the law now they must pay. It does not matter that Bush and Co. told them too, because they broke the law as well. Remember the government works for US not the other way around.
