Period of Consequences

Saturday, December 27, 2008
The era of Procrastination, of half measures, of soothing and baffling expedients, of delays, is coming to a close.

In its place we are entering a Period of Consequences.

- Sir Winston Churchill

We Cause Our Own Problems

Osama Bin Laden, Al Qaeda these people want to see our Country fail. But why? The reason is our unconditional support of Israels disproportionate use of force against the palestinians and other Arabs around them. Until we stop our support of Israel and their force against their neighbors, until we force Israel to give the land back that they have taken from the Palestinians we will be targets to Palestinian sympathizers around the world. The majority of the terror groups that hate us, hate us because of our unwavering support of Israel whether they are in the right or not.

Until we take Israel off their high horse and broker an arrangement that gives back Palestinians their rightful land, we will be targets of terrorism. Its sad we are supporting the wrong side and all because America's guilt at doing nothing to help the Jews during WW2 while Hitler slaughtered them. We let it happen because Hitler was moving on Russia a natural enemy. So we figured why stop, he's going to take out Russia. Besides we had so much money invested in Nazi Germany. Our guilt for not helping the Jews more during WW2 is driving this it drove us to help Jews steal Palestinian land by Force during the formation of Israel. It has drove us to support all their unfair land grabs since. It drives us to ignore their disproportionate use of force against their neighbors. It is also going to drag us down the drain with Israel sooner or later. You can't use that kind of force against people who have by no means the same abilities as you before more and more of the world take notice. More of the world is watching how Israel responds and terror groups spring up because of it.

We are causing our own problems. Our support of Israel is not only wrong but causing the world to despise us as much as most of the world has come to despise Israel and their use of force against its neighbors. We have only ourselves and our policies to blame for the people that want to do us harm. We could and can stop this at any time, but yet the Countries collective guilt has paralyzed us.

So far today 0 israelis have died due to Rockets. Israeli bombs have killed over 200. That is what we support and that support will ultimately cause us much more trouble...

U.S. blames Hamas for cease-fire break

http://mobile.reuters.com/mobile/m/FullArticle/CWOR/nworldNews_uUSTRE4BQ1MR20081227?p=1

Of course we do, we would never blame Israel, the true cause of this problem. Why? Because we encouraged Israel to cause this problem by helping them take land that was not theirs. Like we did to the Indians. Until we stop Israels disproportionate use of force, they will not stop until all the Palestinians are dead and they have populated all of palestinian land. Israel is out of control and will not stop until we intervene and stop supporting Israels murderous campaign against the Palestinians...

And no I am not anti-semitic, but I am for fairness of which Israel has not been...

And yes I put them below rapists child molesters etc. Why you might ask? Because Republicans actually think their 'solutions' are good for humanity and this Country. When in reality they only help the rich and their interests. Not to say Democrats are great, but at least their policies help more than they leave out. If this Country is ever going to improve the Republican state of mind needs to be eradicated. Republican policies will only destroy this Country. Mark my words...

Blind Man See's With Brain Through Obstacle Course

http://mobile.nytimes.com/article?a=278317&f=25

I think these guys need to get together with the guys that have already proven that we have our own internal sonar, like bats. They say they walked in silence and it wasn't echo location, But if they walked down a hall there would be footsteps. Our ears are able to gauge the echo of our movement. Our brain in turn is able to calculate (by the sound of your footsteps let's say and the echo they give off of solid objects) how close you are to that object.

For instance, if you closed your eyes or blindfolded yourself and walked down a solid floor towards a wall. As you walked, by listening to the echo of your footsteps and the change in the sound of them as you got closer to the wall, you would be able to tell when you were to close to the wall. I tried it and its pretty cool.

But, there has to be a sound. You have to be making noise for it to work. Sonar is using echo location and if your not making any noise there's no echo and it doesn't work so well. Like carpet its harder to tell and it becomes more of just like a 'feeling' before you hit the wall. I would be interested to see if this plays a part in their studies or what would happen if they combined. Interesting stuff anyway. And anyone reading this should try what I described. It works you can definitely hear a change in the sound of your footsteps as you get closer to the object. You could train your brain to concentrate on that better, put on some tap shoes and walk around town. Although still doesn't give you a direction. Just tells you if your too close to something.

So yeah, you - me we all have built in echo location. So if your ever walking in the dark, listen to the sound of your footsteps and it might help you not hit your shin on that coffee table.

Son shot and father held in 'messy' killing

Surprised neighbors say family members seemed to be happy

WAILUKU - When six or seven gunshots shattered the late-evening peace of a Kahului suburb Tuesday, the neighbors reacted with alarm.

But the news that a father had killed his son proved no more shocking than the apparent motive: The teenager was untidy.

'It was an ongoing housekeeping issue,' said police Lt. John Jakubszak.

Joe D. Antonio, who works in the press department at The Maui News, was being held on suspicion of second-degree murder in the killing of his son Jose, 19, a 2007 Maui High School graduate. Police said he admitted to the shooting. A .45-caliber semiautomatic handgun was found at the scene.

Antonio's initial court appearance was scheduled for this afternoon."

From ‘Mission Accomplished’ to ‘So What?’

Eugene Robinson has some good points here...

From ‘Mission Accomplished’ to ‘So What?’

By Eugene Robinson

Understanding isn’t the same as forgiving. The history-be-my-judge interviews that President Bush and Vice President Cheney have been giving recently help me understand why they acted with such contempt for our Constitution and our values—but also reinforce my confident belief, and my fervent hope, that history will throw the book at them.

The basic argument that they’re making deserves to be taken seriously. I don’t think either man would object to my summing it up in one sentence: We did what we did to keep America safe.

That terse formulation of the Bush-Cheney apologia leaves out important details. Cheney came into office with preconceived ideas about restoring executive branch powers and prerogatives that he believed had been lost after Vietnam and Watergate; Bush either shared Cheney’s views or was willing to go along. But the main narrative of the Bush presidency began with the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks by al-Qaida terrorists—the worst such assault on American soil.

In a not-for-attribution chat with a member of the Bush Cabinet a couple of years ago, conversation turned to 9/11. I said something like, “I can imagine what that day must have felt like for you.” The response was immediate: “No, you can’t.”

The official went on to describe the chaos and anguish—the shock of seeing the 110-story World Trade Center towers collapse into rubble, the fear that other hijacked planes might still be in the air, the gut feeling that the president and those around him were personally under attack. The official talked of how administration officials racked their memories to think of anything they might have done differently to prevent the 9/11 attacks. I doubt that anyone in the Situation Room actually quoted Malcolm X, but essentially a vow was taken to protect the country from another assault “by any means necessary.”

These were human reactions, understandable and appropriate at the time. The truth is that the administration had missed signs that an attack was brewing—most famously, the president’s daily brief titled “Bin Laden Determined to Strike in U.S.” But these portents were lost amid the avalanche of information that buries every president every single day. Anyone in Bush’s position would have been filled with grief, anger and resolve.

Initial reactions are supposed to give way to reasoned analysis, however. For Bush and most of his top aides, this didn’t happen until far too late.

For Cheney, apparently it never happened at all. In an interview broadcast Sunday, he invited Fox News’ Chris Wallace to “go back and look at how eager the country was to have us work in the aftermath of 9/11 to make certain that that never happened again.” People have since become “complacent,” he said, but the administration’s actions have “produced a safe 7.5 years, and I think the record speaks for itself.”

That record, admirably, includes the overthrow of the Taliban regime in Afghanistan, the dismantling of al-Qaida’s infrastructure and the killing or capture of some of the terrorist organization’s most important operatives. Shamefully, however, it also includes the violation of international and U.S. legal norms by subjecting terrorist suspects to indefinite detention and cruel, painful interrogation; the creation of a mini-gulag of secret CIA-run prisons abroad; and unprecedented domestic surveillance without court supervision—all justified, Cheney maintains, by a state of “war” that has no foreseeable end.

The Bush-Cheney record also includes the invasion of a country—Iraq—that had nothing whatsoever to do with 9/11. This misadventure has claimed more than 4,000 American lives, wasted hundreds of billions of dollars and grievously damaged our strategic position in the Middle East. In an interview with Martha Raddatz of ABC News earlier this month, Bush claimed credit for vanquishing al-Qaida’s forces in Iraq. When Raddatz pointed out that there were no al-Qaida forces in Iraq until after the U.S. invasion, the president answered, “Yeah, that’s right. So what?”

Here’s so what: Bush and Cheney, understandably shaken by an unprecedented act of terrorism, declared and prosecuted a “war” without specifying who the enemy is. Rather than focus on the architect and sponsor of the 9/11 attacks, Osama bin Laden, they turned away to lash out at others in pre-emptive blows that dishonored our nation’s most precious ideals.

History will note that the point of the Constitution is that the ends don’t always justify the means—and that nowhere in the document can be found the phrase “so what?”

Four Top Science Advisers Are Named By Obama

Sunday, December 21, 2008
http://mobile.nytimes.com/article?a=277929&f=21

"It's time we once again put science at the top of our agenda and worked to restore America's place as the world leader in science and technology," Mr. Obama said in a radio address on Saturday, when he announced the appointments.

That is like music to my ears. After 8 years of science being kicked to the curb for politics, true science might actually have a voice in our Government once again. Good science leads to good policy if done correctly. I think we will be seeing good scientific input pushing US policy on multiple issues in the coming years and I could not be happier.

When you have some of the smartest people in the country helping to shape important issues we all benefit. I hope this will be the beginning of a new technology revolution across the board. Like the Moon Race in the 60's, the Green Race will define our next big leap.

New Timothy Leary writings surfaced in a new book, and its editor tells the story of a woman who "involved Leary in a successful conspiracy to turn John F. Kennedy on to LSD."

Its one of many startling revelations in a new interview, in which he also notes that Time magazine published an article last year titled "Was Timothy Leary right?"

The book's editor thinks Leary would be delighted by today's re-evaluation of psychedelics. "...with the growing awareness of the destructive nature of drug prohibition, it seemed wise to try to make this a fairly serious contribution to our collective knowledge and thinking regarding drugs."

Goldman Sachs Ready to Hand Out £7bn Salary and Bonus Package ... After its £6bn Bailout

Goldman Sachs is on course to pay its top City bankers multimillion-pound bonuses — despite asking the U.S. government for an emergency bail-out.

The struggling Wall Street bank has set aside £7billion for salaries and 2008 year-end bonuses, it emerged yesterday.

Each of the firm's 443 partners is on course to pocket an average Christmas bonus of more than £3million.

The size of the pay pool comfortably dwarfs the £6.1billion lifeline which the U.S. government is throwing to Goldman as part of its £430billion bail-out.

As Washington pours money into the bank, the cash will immediately be channeled to Goldman's already well-heeled employees.

Muslim Woman Jailed For Head Scarf

Georgia Judge Jails Muslim Woman Over Head Scarf

Atlanta - A Muslim woman arrested for refusing to take off her head scarf at a courthouse security checkpoint said Wednesday that she felt her human and civil rights were violated. A judge ordered Lisa Valentine, 40, to serve 10 days in jail for contempt of court, said police in Douglasville, a city of about 20,000 people on Atlanta's west suburban outskirts.

Valentine violated a court policy that prohibits people from wearing any headgear in court, police said after they arrested her Tuesday.

Kelley Jackson, a spokeswoman for Georgia Attorney General Thurbert Baker, said state law doesn't permit or prohibit head scarfs.

"It's at the discretion of the judge and the sheriffs and is up to the security officers in the court house to enforce their decision," she said.

Valentine, who recently moved to Georgia from New Haven, Connecticut, said the incident reminded her of stories she'd heard of the civil rights-era South.

"I just felt stripped of my civil, my human rights," she said Wednesday from her home. She said she was unexpectedly released after the Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations urged federal authorities to investigate the incident as well as others in Georgia.

The group cited a report that the same judge removed a woman and her 14-year-old daughter from the courtroom last week because they were wearing Muslim head scarves.

Jail officials declined to say why she was freed and municipal Court Judge Keith Rollins said that "it would not be appropriate" for him to comment on the case.

Last year, a judge in Valdosta in southern Georgia barred a Muslim woman from entering a courtroom because she would not remove her head scarf. There have been similar cases in other states, including Michigan, where a Muslim woman in Detroit filed a federal lawsuit in February 2007 after a judge dismissed her small-claims court case when she refused to remove a head and face veil.

Valentine's husband, Omar Hall, said his wife was accompanying her nephew to a traffic citation hearing when officials stopped her at the metal detector and told her she would not be allowed in the courtroom with the head scarf, known as a hijab.

Hall said Valentine, an insurance underwriter, told the bailiff that she had been in courtrooms before with the scarf on and that removing it would be a religious violation. When she turned to leave and uttered an expletive, Hall said a bailiff handcuffed her and took her before the judge.

The Ashley Madison Agency

http://www.ashleymadison.com/

Ok I'm watching TV and this commercial comes on. It has this guy some guy in bed with an ugly wife dreaming about pretty girls. Then it says something like life is too short have an affair. I couldn't believe it, so I looked it up to see if what I thought I just saw a commercial for was really what it was for and it was. They are advertising a website for married people to go on and cheat.

Now besides the lameness of cheating how fucking stupid do you have to be to go on a known cheating website looking for affairs? Wouldn't suspecting spouses start looking for stuff like that? I'm sure some will get away with it but I just could not believe there was a TV commercial for something like that...

Chargers New Head Coach

Sunday, November 30, 2008
Should be either Steve Spagnola or Josh McDaniels. I would also put Bill Cowher on that list but I believe he will replace Romeo Crennel in Cleveland.

It would be great if they could keep Norv as Offensive Coordinator but he has got to go as head coach. They also either need to get Lorenzo Neal back or get a true Fullback on that roster. If they don't LT will never be the same for us.

Regardless Norv has got to go, he has no motivational skills and it shows...

Lieberman's Fate : Edit

Tuesday, November 18, 2008
In my last post I said Lieberman would be up for re-election in two years. I was totally wrong, he is up for re-election in '12. Although Ted Kennedy Jr seems ready to run against him soooo bye Joe.

I still would really love to see him lose that chair if he is going to be around for that long, or maybe kiss Barack's ass - literally - in public. (That's a You Tube #1 hit just dying to get posted.) I say that thinking of a South Park episode where Stan's dad has to kiss Jesse Jacksons ass. Its great.

No On Joe In '12

In The End Lieberman's Fate Is In The Voters Hands

Joe Lieberman might of dodged a bullet today by hanging on to his chairmanship of Homeland Security, but his fate now lies with the voters whom I strongly believe will vote his ass out.

At first I was mad today when I found out that he was able to keep his Homeland Security Chair, mostly I might add because of Obama's insistence. Then I realized in two years he is up for re-election, Obama knows I'm sure like most that he will not survive that election. Obama also knows that by keeping Joe in he gains in the Senate and is able to stick to the high road on the situation. All this knowing full well the voters will take care of Lieberman for him. Its brilliant and that is why I am so glad he is our President. We have to deal with Joe for two more years but that's just a Presidential Campaign away...

His brother Joe was choking on an ice cube and Mark who was born without arms grabbed a pencil in his toes and was able to push the cube down his throat. He drove a car played drums and guitar and was a remarkable person. I fell out of contact with him but here he is playing guitar at Balboa Park San Diego and playing it well. Check out the video check out the band, you will not be disappointed and you probably wont believe your eyes. I now bring to you Mark Goffeney musical wonder....

George Bush's God

Tuesday, November 11, 2008
George Bush's 'God' has a nickname, it's Turd Blossom.

Make sense now?

God told me to run for Governor.

God told me to run for President.

God told me to invade Iraq.

There was someone whispering in his ear who George Bush 'saw' as God. Not the God most people would think of though. His God was Turd Blossom.

George Bush And His 90 'De' Regulations

Very quietly George Bush is working on 90 Government Regulations before he leaves office, most to do with de-regulating almost everything. Some of the notable ones are...

De-regulating violations of the 4th Amendment.

Allowing local and state law enforcement to spy on anyone and everyone, even if no criminal activity is suspected or if the person has no criminal record. Just because.

Make it easier for Federal agents to ignore the endangered species act.
Weaken workplace safety restrictions.

Allow Uranium mining 4 miles from the Colorado river.

Etc.

For the last 8 years George Bush has done nothing but Violate our Country and our Constitution. Playing out his sick daddy issues at the expense of the People and Government he was ... Appointed to lead and the laws he was supposed to protect. Trying so hard to outdo his father he actually made his fathers term seem like paradise.

George W. Bush has without a doubt been the worst President thus far. I would not even call him a President. He was more like a tyrannical wanna be Monarch. That is how he 'ruled', as George the Decider.

We still have sixty nine days of George Bush violating our Country and our laws. I mean mining for Uranium 4 miles from a huge water source??? Local law enforcement gathering intelligence on citizens??? I just hope we can fix what he has destroyed.

Do You Fart In Bed?

DO YOU FART IN BED?

IF THIS STORY DOESN'T MAKE YOU CRY FOR LAUGHING SO HARD, LET ME KNOW AND I'LL PRAY FOR YOU.

THIS IS A STORY ABOUT A COUPLE WHO HAD BEEN HAPPILY MARRIED FOR YEARS.

THE ONLY FRICTION IN THEIR MARRIAGE WAS THE HUSBAND'S HABIT OF FARTING LOUDLY EVERY MORNING WHEN HE AWOKE. THE NOISE WOULD WAKE HIS WIFE AND

THE SMELL WOULD MAKE HER EYES WATER AND MAKE HER GASP FOR AIR.

EVERY MORNING SHE WOULD PLEAD WITH HIM TO STOP RIPPING THEM OFF BECAUSE IT WAS MAKING HER SICK. HE TOLD HER HE COULDN'T STOP IT AND THAT IT WAS
PERFECTLY NATURAL. SHE TOLD HIM TO SEE A DOCTOR, SHE WAS CONCERNED THAT ONE DAY HE WOULD BLOW HIS GUTS OUT.

THE YEARS WENT BY AND HE CONTINUED TO RIP THEM OUT. THEN ONE THANKSGIVING MORNING AS SHE WAS PREPARING THE TURKEY FOR DINNER AND HE WAS UPSTAIRS SOUND ASLEEP, SHE LOOKED AT THE INNARDS AND NECK, GIZZARD, LIVER AND ALL THE SPARE PARTS AND A MALICIOUS THOUGHT CAME TO HER.

SHE TOOK THE BOWL AND WENT UPSTAIRS WHERE HER HUSBAND WAS SOUND ASLEEP AND, GENTLY PULLING THE BED COVERS BACK, SHE PULLED BACK THE ELASTIC WAISTBAND OF HIS UNDERPANTS AND EMPTIED THE BOWL OF TURKEY GUTS INTO HIS SHORTS.

SOME TIME LATER SHE HEARD HER HUSBAND WAKEN WITH HIS USUAL TRUMPETING WHICH WAS FOLLOWED BY A BLOOD CURDLING SCREAM AND THE SOUND OF FRANTIC FOOT STEPS AS HE RAN INTO THE BATH ROOM. THE WIFE COULD HARDLY CONTROL HERSELF AS SHE ROLLED ON THE FLOOR LAUGHING, TEARS IN HER EYES! AFTER YEARS OF TORTURE SHE RECKONED SHE HAD GOT HIM BACK PRETT Y GOOD.

ABOUT TWENTY MINUTES LATER, HER HUSBAND CAME DOWNSTAIRS IN HIS BLOODSTAINED UNDERPANTS WITH A LOOK OF HORROR ON HIS FACE. SHE BIT HER LIP AS SHE ASKED HIM WHAT WAS THE MATTER.

HE SAID, 'HONEY YOU WERE RIGHT.' 'ALL THESE YEARS YOU HAVE WARNED ME AND I DIDN'T LISTEN TO YOU'.

'WHAT DO YOU MEAN?' ASKED HIS WIFE.

'WELL, YOU ALWAYS TOLD ME THAT ONE DAY I WOULD END UP FARTING MY GUTS OUT, AND TODAY IT FINALLY HAPPENED.' BUT BY THE GRACE OF GOD, SOME VASELINE AND TWO FINGERS. I THINK I GOT MOST OF THEM BACK IN.'

Olbermann's Special Comment On Prop 8

Monday, November 10, 2008
I concur...

Finally tonight as promised, a Special Comment on the passage, last week, of Proposition Eight in California, which rescinded the right of same-sex couples to marry, and tilted the balance on this issue, from coast to coast.

Some parameters, as preface. This isn't about yelling, and this isn't about politics, and this isn't really just about Prop-8. And I don't have a personal investment in this: I'm not gay, I had to strain to think of one member of even my very extended family who is, I have no personal stories of close friends or colleagues fighting the prejudice that still pervades their lives. And yet to me this vote is horrible. Horrible. Because this isn't about yelling, and this isn't about politics.

This is about the... human heart, and if that sounds corny, so be it. If you voted for this Proposition or support those who did or the sentiment they expressed, I have some questions, because, truly, I do not... understand.

Why does this matter to you?

What is it to you?

In a time of impermanence and fly-by-night relationships, these people over here want the same chance at permanence and happiness that is your option.

They don't want to deny you yours. They don't want to take anything away from you. They want what you want -- a chance to be a little less alone in the world. Only now you are saying to them -- no. You can't have it on these terms. Maybe something similar. If they behave. If they don't cause too much trouble. You'll even give them all the same legal rights -- even as you're taking away the legal right, which they already had. A world around them, still anchored in love and marriage, and you are saying, no, you can't marry.

What if somebody passed a law that said you couldn't marry?

I keep hearing this term "re-defining" marriage. If this country hadn't re-defined marriage, black people still couldn't marry white people. Sixteen states had laws on the books which made that illegal... in 1967. 1967.

The parents of the President-Elect of the United States couldn't have married in nearly one third of the states of the country their son grew up to lead. But it's worse than that. If this country had not "re-defined" marriage, some black people still couldn't marry...black people. It is one of the most overlooked and cruelest parts of our sad story of slavery.

Marriages were not legally recognized, if the people were slaves. Since slaves were property, they could not legally be husband and wife, or mother and child. Their marriage vows were different: not "Until Death, Do You Part," but "Until Death or Distance, Do You Part." Marriages among slaves were not legally recognized.

You know, just like marriages today in California are not legally recognized, if the people are... gay.

And uncountable in our history are the number of men and women, forced by society into marrying the opposite sex, in sham marriages, or marriages of convenience, or just marriages of not knowing -- centuries of men and women who have lived their lives in shame and unhappiness, and who have, through a lie to themselves or others, broken countless other lives, of spouses and children...

All because we said a man couldn't marry another man, or a woman couldn't marry another woman. The sanctity of marriage. How many marriages like that have there been and how on earth do they increase the "sanctity" of marriage rather than render the term, meaningless?

What is this, to you?

Nobody is asking you to embrace their expression of love. But don't you, as human beings, have to embrace... that love?

The world is barren enough. It is stacked against love, and against hope, and against those very few and precious emotions that enable us to go forward. Your marriage only stands a 50-50 chance of lasting, no matter how much you feel and how hard you work. And here are people overjoyed at the prospect of just that chance, and that work, just for the hope of having that feeling. With so much hate in the world, with so much meaningless division, and people pitted against people for no good reason, this is what your religion tells you to do?

With your experience of life and this world and all its sadnesses, this is what your conscience tells you to do?

With your knowledge that life, with endless vigor, seems to tilt the playing field on which we all live, in favor of unhappiness and hate... this is what your heart tells you to do?

You want to sanctify marriage?

You want to honor your God and the universal love you believe he represents?

Then Spread happiness -- this tiny, symbolic, semantical grain of happiness -- share it with all those who seek it. Quote me anything from your religious leader or book of choice telling you to stand against this.

And then tell me how you can believe both that statement and another statement, another one which reads only "do unto others as you would have them do unto you."

You are asked now, by your country, and perhaps by your creator, to stand on one side or another. You are asked now to stand, not on a question of politics, not on a question of religion, not on a question of gay or straight. You are asked now to stand, on a question of...love. All you need do is stand, and let the tiny ember of love meet its own fate. You don't have to help it, you don't have it applaud it, you don't have to fight for it. Just don't put it out. Just don't extinguish it. Because while it may at first look like that love is between two people you don't know and you don't understand and maybe you don't even want to know...It is, in fact, the ember of your love, for your fellow **person... Just because this is the only world we have. And the other guy counts, too.

This is the second time in ten days I find myself concluding by turning to, of all things, the closing plea for mercy by Clarence Darrow in a murder trial. But what he said, fits what is really at the heart of this:

"I was reading last night of the aspiration of the old Persian poet, Omar-Khayyam," he told the judge. "It appealed to me as the highest that I can vision. I wish it was in my heart, and I wish it was in the hearts of all:

"So I be written in the Book of Love; "I do not care about that Book above. "Erase my name, or write it as you will, "So I be written in the Book of Love."

Good night, and good luck.

A message from the President...

guy --

In the months and years ahead, we're going to accomplish amazing things together. No president has ever had the support of such a powerful grassroots movement, and Barack and Joe will need you to continue fighting alongside them.

But before we take the next step, we need to get our house in order.

The Democratic National Committee poured all of its resources into building our successful 50-state field program. And they played a crucial role in helping Barack win in unlikely states like North Carolina and Indiana. We even picked up an electoral vote in Nebraska.

The DNC took on considerable debt to make this happen.

Make a donation of $30 or more now to help the DNC pay for these efforts, and you'll get a commemorative 2008 Victory T-shirt.

Help the DNC and get a 2008 Victory T-shirt

The DNC began building a 50-state organization in 2005.

The infrastructure they put in place over the last four years opened up a new batch of battleground states where a Democratic nominee hadn't been competitive for a generation.

In the final few months, the DNC went above and beyond to expand our ground efforts and ensure victory.

We couldn't have won this election without their support.

As we start laying the groundwork for real change, we need to help the DNC recover the resources it took to win. Please make a donation today and get your 2008 Victory T-shirt:

https://donate.barackobama.com/victoryshirt

This movement for change is just getting started, and we look forward to working with you to bring the change this country needs.

Thanks for everything you did to elect Barack and Joe,

Obama for America

California Votes To Give Rights To Chickens, Takes Rights Away From Gays

Thursday, November 6, 2008
Think about that one for a second. On Tuesday Californians voted to give rights to chickens to be free of cages. They then voted to take away rights from homosexuals. How do you give rights to a chicken and then take away the rights of a human?

I love my state but that is just stupid.

Lawsuits filed against California same-sex marriage ban

I am so tired of Christians and their constant quest to make their religious beliefs our laws. I am not Christian and I do not want Christian beliefs of which I find to be archaic, to be the laws that govern my Country. The fact that Christians want their beliefs to be everyones beliefs and are willing to force it through courts and Amendments is un-American and has been allowed to occur for far too long. Have your beliefs but don't force the population to live by your religions beliefs.

I'm not talking about all Christians but a large majority in this Country act in this way...
